Sharon & Gary - Mehndi, Vatna & Sangeet

Sharon and Gary are my first 3 day wedding of the season. Their last month's engagement pictures are still warm.
We started on Thursday with the mehndi party. As most times, I'm the only guy around:
This is how you get things done:
Quite fascinating:
Friday is maiya day. First at Gary's:
Vatna is the ceremony where the couple's families rub yellow turmeric paste - made out of chick pea flour and mustard oil - on their legs, face, and arms while they sit on a patri - a special red board with embroidery:
The attention to detail simply amazed me:
After that at Sharon's. She's spying on the girls making the rangoli:
So, here's how I got to be a part of this great event. Remember Rav and Indy, the beautiful couple I've spent the last Fall with? Well, Indy is Sharon's brother. How about that? Thank you guys!
I still couldn't find out why the ladies hold the red chunni above the future bride throughout the whole ritual:
After that the mother cleans the rangoli, and mix it with water, and put it on the walls of the house. In India they say the longer it lasts, the more love a mother has for her son or daughter.
The ladies' sangeet took place in the same night at Sultan Banquet Hall:
Sharon's brothers - Indy and Raj - play the decorators. They've got skills:
The ladies start to sing:
Jaggo ceremony:
Wedding pictures are coming soon! Don't go anywhere!
