Unlike Sikh weddings, Hindu wedding ceremonies can take place in a banquet hall. This is the reason we start our day at the Mirage:
The bride is in the nuptial room, blooming:
It's so different than mine, but I really like the hair style:
Upon his arrival, the groom is held hostage by his driver, who demands a heavy ransom:
I'm sure Yassine's worth every penny:
He's first task is to break the coconut:
1 - 0 for Yassine:
Escorted by her parents, Sheba makes an appearance, but not just any appearance:
The couple officially greets by exchanging the garlands:
The ceremony can start now:
Yassine is from Morocco and obviously he's not Hindu, thus he plays everything by ear:
He keeps scoring, though:
Sheba's parents are ready to give their daughter away.
Impressive idea for the mandap pillars:
Usually only the bride 'climbs the rock', but looks like this one is big enough for both of them:
Sapta Padi - "Take this third step with me towards prosperity and luxuries of life":
Yassine adorns Sheba by tying a mangal sutra - wedding necklace - around her neck, while both of them are being showered with petals and rice:
Lots and lots of petals and rice:
Married - what a relief:
We meet again in the afternoon, at the Fort Edmonton park:
Which happens to be one of my favorite photo locations.
There's something different about Sheba's outfit, but I can't quite put my finger on it:
Gotta be the earrings:
Good thing the limo is waiting for us outside!
Oh, yeah:
The outdoors are great!
But we have to go back to Mirage for the reception. The couple welcomes the guests from a pretty awesome canvas with their favorite engagement session picture:
Working the cameras on all the angles:
The evening starts promising with a game for the newlyweds:
25% guessing chances don't look so good:
Now you all know. Apart from other stuff, Yassine is also singing in the shower:
There's extra questions from the audience:
Nobody really expects the answers to match:
The entertainment only gets better:
The room temperature changes abruptly with artist Marissa Puff's entrance:
It makes sense to be this hot when you're eating flames:
For the newlyweds there's something a little colder and sweeter:
Congratulations, Sheba and Yassine! Thank you so much for a fantastic day!
