Kiran: "So you like football?? And just like that after
one conversation, I was hooked. With Sunny things always flowed so naturally.
From our first date till the ring went on my finger it was always a meant to be
scenario. Clichés aside he truly is the “yin to my yang”, as I am the
energetic, obsessive planner, he is the laid back go with the flow calm cool
and collected type. After being with Sunny, I have learned how to unwind and
surprisingly enough he actually plans!! He is truly one of the sweetest, and
kindest souls I have ever met, and it radiates from him and infects everyone
around him. He is always surrounded by laughter and love and if the past year
or so has been any kind of indication as to what my future looks like, well
then my happily ever after has just begun."
Sunny's kirpan is an original one. It belonged to someone important in Punjab (can't remember who):
During peacefull times, it holds the palla above the groom's head:
After a three hour drive, we're welcomed in Calgary by the bride's family:
The milni starts right away:
Love is in the air:
Quite high in the air:
My last ceremony of 2013 at this Calgary gurdwara:
The ragis are doing a really good job:
Here he comes:
And here she comes:
Sunny: "As all Indian people would know the older one gets the more pressure you get from your family to get married, this was no different for me, but after conversations with my family saying it’ll happen when it happens…. it happened! And it’s all because a girl named Kiran came into my life. A girl, who cares about family first, always puts others before herself, and would do whatever she can to make you happy.I am one lucky guy to be stuck with Kiran…oops did I say stuck I meant married to Kiran, and I just look forward to spending the rest of my life with her."
The first groom to wear kalire. And proudly do so:
The way of the lama is a little tight:
And full of emotions:
The more I see the groom kalire, the more I like it:
Traditional ... with a twist:
Back at Kiran's house, her family is asking for money to let Sunny's guys in:
They find that rather amusing:
Finally Sunny pays up and he makes his way in by the way of the scissors:
Kiran will be missed by her brothers:
She'll miss everyone, too:
Her mom can't let go:
Sunny promises to take over from here:
Welcome to Edmonton, Kiran! By the time we get back, everyone's in party mode:
Which is a good thing, because the reception is the next day:
Makeup artist Kiran Brar is taking care of the bride formerly known as Kiran Brar, now Kiran Gill:
Photo shoots are fun.
That's what I tell everyone, anyway.
But we're waited at the party:
And no one wants that champagne bottle to wait for too long:
Neither this cake:
Cheers, everybody! Grab whatever glass resembling container you find:
Miyah is trying to translate her daddy's speech in kid's language:
The only slow dance of the night:
DJ Shammi will make sure of that:
Stop! Have a nap:
Or a shot:
Break's over:
Congratulations one more time, Kiran and Sunny! Thank you so much for the fantastic times!
