Aman: " Our journey has been a long one and there is no one else I would have wanted beside me along the way. Amrita isn't just my soon to be wife, she has been my best friend for 10 years now. She has stood with me through all my ups and downs, the good and bad times, supported me in harsh times. In many situations, a slight look, a smile or even her laughter has had the ability to brighten my day. Here's to entering our next phase of our lives together."
Sonia just loves helping with the chunni:
She's in luck. There's a long line waiting for her services:
Amrita: "Throughout the last ten years, Aman has been my best friend, my advisor, my partner in crime, my support, my rock, my life. He knows me better than I know myself and understands me without uttering a single word. He has always supported my dreams and ambitions and believed that I can do anything that I set my mind to. He is one of the most modest, caring, charming guy that I have ever met. He is always smiling and full of positive energy. Aman brings out the good in me, he makes me laugh and enjoy every moment that we share together. We have the type of relationship where we can spend 24/7/365 together and not get tired of each other. We can do everything or nothing and be completely fine with it.
Words cannot describe how truly blessed I am to have him in my life. We are living proof that love happens when you least expect it. I know it was part of God's plan for us, and I can't wait to see what happens next."
They'll definitely need the energy later:
The baarat starts at home:
And goes all the way to the gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha:
It's quite chilly outside:
So the milni is very short.
The langar is much warmer and looks great:
Smells even better:
The last touch ups before the ceremony begins:
This is the Indian version of the first look. Usually it happens in front of 500 people, sometimes during the ceremony:
Pop quiz: how many hands does Amrita have:
Anyway, the ring is going up on one of those fingers for sure:
This is the moment Aman finds out his sister lost his shoes:
The next moment is when they run outside to get them back:
Riley seems to be in control:
For a short time. He holds on to his brother in law's juttis, but he does it at a great cost:
His sacrifice is not completely in vain. The groom gets his hands on one of the shoes:
The other one is free for a second:
But falls into the wrong hands. Or the right hands, depends on who's side you are:
I'm on the fun's side and I'm having a great time! Half barefooted, Aman has to pay for his second jutti:
Crazy enough, it's his brand new wife who takes the money away from him:
No hard feelings, though. The sooner he gets used to the concept, the better:
This is how awesome October looks like in Edmonton:
In the same time, days get shorter and we have to keep moving:
A few riddles await at Amrita's home:
Aman's posse is trying:
But the results are quite unexpected:
Negotiations start over:
It's already dark outside and Amrita is following her new husband. She casts fortune over her old home:
And kicks fortune into her new home:
There's still time for a few games testing team capabilities of the newest couple in town:
Last day of the celebrations starts with another make over:
It's all in good mood:
Later in the evening, in front of all his guests, Aman will have to say a few words. It's better to be prepared:
Sonia is back to her passion - the chunni:
The first reading of the speech has a promising impact:
We have a few minutes for pictures:
But it's getting late:
After sunset, downtown Edmonton becomes very unsafe:
The Palace Banquet Hall, on the other hand, is more welcoming:
Aman's mom really likes the canvas with a shot from the couple's e-shoot:
Randeep is graciously receiving the reception guests:
Fortunately, she's not there when Amrita and Aman make their grand entrance:
And all this time you thought I was underdressed:
The evening program is more than entertaining:
The cake seems to be tasty, as well:
And, for my personal satisfaction, the jaago:
I don't care what anybody else thinks, but this little girl owns the dance floor. At the end of the night, her parents will have to almost use a tractor to drag her out:
Have you heard of white bhangra before? I even have pictures:
It's catching up fast:
Congratulations one more time, Amrita and Aman! Thank you so much for a happy week!
Can't wait to hear the Bahamas stories!
