Ready? Action:
It's interesting how new technology is helping centuries old traditions stay alive and prosper:
Bobby turns videographer for a few days:
By now, it's midnight and we're the only people still standing:
And there's still some work to be done:
The next day is full of Hindu wedding rituals. A lot of chai will be needed:
When it comes to food, no one's left behind:
We begin with a short Chunni Ceremony:
Sweets? Not so much:
Jewellery? Why not:
Next thing you know, Bobby is touching the ground with one knee and has a little box in his hands:
And surprise! In the box, there's another box:
But in the other box, there's a ring that doesn't stay there for too long:
The Pandit-ji prepares the Choora ritual:
In case you all forgot, that's when the bridal bangles are dipped in milk and donned on the bride's arms.
For Hindu weddings, the process involves a puja conducted by a priest:
The bangles can be put on one by one or all of them in the same time, like so:
The thread was necessary to keep them in a certain order. Now we don't need it anymore. Also, we don't want the bride to look like she's been handcuffed:
The kalire complete the look:
I love the fact that all the rituals have a fun part! This is where the bride to be shakes her arms above single girls in the audience; and if a piece of the kalire falls on one of the girls, she'll be the next to get married. It's easy to notice that she really wants to get married. Nobody is holding her there by the hand, or anything:
Dances follow, while Silky is changing for the last part of the day:
And here she is:
Her haldi is quick and painless:
The guys have more fun with Bobby:
Now he's ready to get married:
The Valentine's Day wedding will come soon! Don't go anywhere! Actually, in this cold, I'm sure you won't even try.
