Nina & Alex - Not Just Another Punjabi Wedding

You might say this is just another 5 day Punjabi wedding, but not for me. It's a very special one because Alex is Romanian and, for the ones who were not paying attention in the last 7 years, I'm Romanian, too.
According to Indian wedding traditions, we kick off the celebrations with the Takha or the Engagement ceremony:
Regardless of cultural background, the guy is always the one down on his knee:

After the future groom receives his presents, it's Nina's turn to be pampered:

For some reason, the bride-to-be always gets more bling than her future husband.
As soon as we run out of gifts, the jaago brings in the party:

The next day, there's a mehndi celebration at Nina's:
Gulshan Kahn, the mehndi artist, finishes the bride's design even before I show up, which is unheard of.
We get away from the crowd and find the CrossIron Mills, which makes a decent spot for some pictures on a rainy day:

The third day brings a rangoli:

And a very rare to be seen double maiya:

There's enough turmeric paste for both of them:

Alex's mom follows the Punjabi traditions the best way she can:
And Nina's family is fascinated with her every move:
This is one custom that Alex seems to enjoy the most. It's not spooning, but his uncle (in this case, Nina's uncle) has to carry him outside of the washroom after the traditional bath:
As usual, the evening ends with the choora ceremony:

Nina and Alex are now ready for the big day. If you want to see a Romanian guy getting married in a Sikh gurdwara and enjoying every second of it, stick around.
