Farah: "On our first date, he showed up an hour late, and our first stop was a gas station; only to realize he forgot his wallet! Needless to say, it was no ordinary first date. I knew there was something special about Rahim from that very first moment... and the adventure hasn't stopped since. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with the man who makes all my dreams come true!"
Before that happens, he has to figure out how to make a tie knot.
Maybe his groomsmen can help.
Meanwhile, at Farah's home:
Mom ties a lemon to her outfit with the specific purpose of warding off all evil spirits:
She's now ready to be picked up by her prince:
Rahim: "I proposed to the woman of my dreams in September 2015, in Vancouver. I had an elaborate plan like a horse and carriage ride through Stanley Park. Needless to say, Farah asks way too many questions and I was forced to come up with an impromptu backup plan. We started to walk along English Bay and I saw an empty beach... I told her that my feet were hurting and wanted to sit. I then asked her 'when do you want to be a Velji?' and she responded by saying 'asap!'. I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me... She said yes!"
It's rainy outside, so we cut the photoshoot short.
Candy and lots of guests wait for us at the Ismaili Jamatkhana Headquarters.
After all the documents that can be signed, are signed, the wedding rings go to their final destination:
The sweet ending comes as candy and heartfelt blessings:
There's chocolate for all the guests, as well:
May I introduce to you for the first time, the newlyweds:
It's still raining outside, so we get a few more shots inside the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel, before the reception.
Before the party begins, there are a few more rituals performed by the groom's parents to welcome their new daughter-in-law:
Despite the tie incident in the morning, I have this strange feeling that Rahim has done this before. If that's not it, at least, he did his homework:
Let me explain: the Saapatia ritual is when the bride and groom have a little contest and have to break one clay pot each to determine who's going to rule in household matters. Well, that didn't happen because Rahim just broke it as soon as he had the chance and even has time to celebrate the victory before Farah realizes what went down:
At least, she gets to fill her lap with lots of money from her new father-in-law, during the Khobo ceremony:
Today's kissing game involves a little bit of hockey.
As expected, the emotions fill the room during the speeches.
One more time, congratulations Farah & Rahim! Thank you so much for inviting me to your wedding!
