We have a busy day ahead, including a visit to the apartment of HM the Queen, but let's start from the beginning, when Simona is spending an early morning with the bride:
In the same time, I'm at the groom's place, tying turbans and things:
With sehra bandi done, Sukie hops on the horse to start the baraat.
Led by the dhol player, everybody dances their way to the Nanaksar Gurdwara.
As usual, the milni reveals one of the jolly sides of today's ceremonies.
Breakfast follows immediately, and Zaika Catering makes it a delicious and plentiful affair.
Don't tell anyone, but I probably ate half of those gulab jamuns all by myself:
With full bellies, we slowly make our way from the langar to darbar sahib:
Sukie's sehra has to come off before his bride walks in.
Because it's never staged or planned, it's rather difficult to capture the first look of an Indian bridal couple, but sometimes there are extra challenges:
It's heartwarming to see both moms standing together for the first ardas:
A flowery palla will literally keep the couple together for the remaining of the Anand Karaj, and for the rest of their lives figuratively.
The last ardas raises everyone on their feet.
There's still a long day ahead, so we rush back to Sukie's home for the paani varna ritual, where his mom welcomes her new daughter-in-law:
It looks like Sukie has done this before, but I'm sure he's just lucky.
Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is also welcoming the newlyweds with chocolate strawberries, in the spacious apartment of Her Majesty.
There's little time to enjoy the royal treatment. The newly named Edmonton Convention Centre is waiting for the happiest couple in town.
A few speeches and games warm up the exquisite ambiance.
In the old Punjabi tradition, the first dance is followed by a night of wild bhangra.
The next generation is already up to standards.
Congratulations one more time, Neha & Sukie! Thank you so much for the fantastic times!
