Varanasi & Sarnath - India

 Varanasi (Banaras or Benares or Kashi) is the most sacred place for Hindus.
 Ganges is said to have its origins in the tresses of Lord Shiva.
 Varanasi is - reportedly - the oldest living city in the world.


 The city attracts thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year:

 Sarnath is located 10 km north of Varanasi:
The 5th century AD Dhamekh Stupa is 34 m high:
 After the Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, he came to Sarnath.
 Here, in the Deer Park, he delivered his first sermon, or in religious terms, set in motion the Wheel of Law.
