It took a while, but, finally, I get to capture my first Sikh wedding in Vancouver.
It's a special honor because Saji is a photographer herself and I know she has countless options close to home, but she chose me to create memories for her.
I like it when the couple sends gifts to each other on the morning of.
Saji gets a puppy and a key.
Well, it's a 2 in 1 kind of key and probably the only key she'll ever need:
Mom helps with the last details and we're on our way.
In the same time, Jason's turban comes to life:
He receives the kirpan from his dad:
And a love letter from his wife-to-be:
Leaving the drone buzzing from home for the bee buzzing at the gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar.
Both families meet for the milni in front of the temple:
Then everybody makes their way inside:
The most emotional part of the Anand Karaj is when Saji is given away by her father during the palla rasam:
One last little shiny detail concludes the ceremony:
The newlyweds share their first meal together and Jason's father is happy to serve them:
Now we have some energy to go play on the boardwalk of New West:
In the middle of all that fun, Jason ends up without his new wife and he has to pay her sisters if he plans to take her home anytime soon:
Money is exchanged for scissors and he's in.
It's time for Saji to say goodbye to her family, leaving them in prosperity.
Back to Jason's home, his sisters are delighted to welcome them both:
Winning is not important here, but having fun is a must.
Last day of the celebrations is even more glamorous:
The Westin on Bayshore is our backdrop for some quick portraits.
There's a party waiting at South Hall, so we keep moving.
The decor is quite elaborate:
Bhangra dancers always set up the mood for an entertaining night.
And if the bhangra performers are not enough, we have fireworks:
Doesn't really look like anybody needs encouragement to come on the dance floor.
Congratulations once again, Saji & Jason! Thank you so much for inviting me to your Vancouver wedding!
