Fall is that time of the year when love puts on a smily face and goes to town.
Making a good use of his groomsmen, Arvind sends a gift to his wife-to-be:
There are middlewomen involved, as well:
Rajni approves the love letter:
And she definitely approves the Valentino shoes:
Bogdan, my second shooter, is taking his best shots at the groom:
These fancy juttis are gonna have a rough day, but more on that later:
With the sehra bandi accomplished, the groom is escorted to the limo, by his sisters:
Gurdwara Sahib Dashmesh is in celebration mode.
After the two families meet and greet in front of the temple, everyone steps inside:
Apparently, Arvind doesn't need his sehra anymore:
The bridesmaids procession signals the approach of today's star.
The first look is only half a look, as Rajni is too focused on her duty:
The initial ardas is followed by the short and emotional palla ceremony, where Rajni's father gives her away to Arvind:
Everybody stands up for the final ardas.
One last detail:
As a wedding can make you a little hungry, the newlyweds have their first meal in the langar, surrounded by all the family and friends:
You've all heard of the Indian shy bride, but you never met the shy groom:
Those who met me before, probably noticed I'm not a small guy. But compared to Arvind, I really am. So this is a pretty amazing feat. The bridesmaids costumes must be some sort of Batman outfit, packing a lot of strength:
For the next few shots, you might wanna cover the children's eyes. This is the moment when the groom's shoes suddenly become the most desired prize on the planet. We'll call it the Jutti World Cup:
??????
I mean the juttis are not even there anymore, it's just an unintelligible mass of bridesmaids and groomsmen:
After they manage to separate from the boys, the girls are not giving up as they try to increase their income with the help of a little clever game called Saini No More (Rajni's family name was Saini until today, get it?):
There are a lot of tasks the boys have to finish in order for Arvind to see his wife sometimes soon.
He starts by making a roti.
Of course, Jas ends up wearing a saree:
One last surprize before they are allowed inside. Always a pleasure to get some fresh silly string in your eyes:
The silly string is replaced by rose petals as the 'enemy' is welcomed in.
When tears and rice fill up the room, it's time for Rajni to say goodbye to her family:
The sun is long gone for the day when Arvind brings his wife home.
There's one more obstacle in their way, but the groom proves to be in great shape still:
After more than 100 Punjabi weddings, I thought I knew all the rituals. Well, this is a new one:
Not sure what's it about, but some flour from the plate has to be on the floor, and the bride does her best to see that happening:
The couple has a brand new look for next day's reception:
I guess it's true what they say about tall guys; they sport long belts:
We have time for a short and picturesque trip to Confederation Park:
Autumn and romance are made for each other:
Time to go downtown before the ice sculpture melts:
Judging by the entrance alone, it's easy to see how crazy the party is going to be.
This is a Punjabi event; I'm sure not a single drop of alcohol has a chance to make it out of here.
As expected, the first part of the evening is full of laughter and emotions.
The newlyweds have a touching speech, but not everybody wants to hear it:
The floor fills up right after the first dance.
The night is still young, but hard currency is already disposed of all over the place, with generosity:
Arvind better shape up, there's some fearless competition out there:
Congratulations one more time, Rajni and Arvind! Thank you so much for two wonderful days!
