Our week long wedding comes to its climatic season finale and you don't wanna miss it.
Vicky starts her wedding day early, with Sunita Sumaru. Simona shows up in time to capture the febrile preparations.
At Sumeet's place, I'm witnessing a pugh tying festival:
The groom is welcomed by Robbie, his soon-to-be brother-in-law at the Nanaksar gurdwara:
It's windy and cold despite the glorious sun, so we head inside for the milni:
It gets warm and cozy really fast:
After breakfast, everyone gathers upstairs in the Darbar Sahib (main hall).
Using traditional musical instruments, the raagis usher the guests inside:
The Anand Karaj begins with an ardaas where the couple and their parents stand up and pray:
The Palla Rasam ritual follows right after that. Vincky's father gives her away to Sumeet:
The bride's brothers guide her four times around the Adi Granth.
The ceremony ends with the closing ardaas, where everybody stands up and pray collectively. Everybody except the ones who fell asleep:
It's a beautiful day so we go outside looking for spring. That's it, that's all the spring we have in Edmonton.
The sun is getting low on the horizon, so Aujla family arrives at the bride's home to take her away for good:
The Sidhu family welcomes them with delicious food and drinks, which is a tactical mistake.
With a full belly and confused by all the 'Sumeet' faces, the groom is not gonna be in a rush to play the girls' games.
Specially when, according to the rules, he has to pay in order to play:
Fierce negotiations and spicy tasks ensue.
Finally, with proper payment, he's allowed inside.
His brand new wife takes her place by his side, and starts saying goodbye to her family.
She follows him never letting go of his palla, but holding on to her family.
The sadness on one side is replaced by joy on the other side:
Joy and smoky fireworks:
By the time the last day of ceremonies comes, Sumeet is well aware of his role in the relationship:
But it's all good, because he gets to use his wife's remaining hair spray:
Fairmont Hotel MacDonald still offers new ideas for bridal portraits.
The party goes down at Aria banquet hall and the couple makes a colourful and energetic entry:
The emotions are kept at high levels with funny stories and heartfelt wishes.
Dance performances of the high quality variety only make all the guests more anxious to join them.
After a little cake force feeding, the sparkling first dance announces a night of non-stop celebration.
As usual, it starts raining right away:
Bhangra dance-offs and special performance by the groom and his boys are part of the excitement.
Congratulations one more time, Vincky and Sumeet! Just like everybody else, we're wishing you everlasting love and endless happiness.
