Karan: "When I first saw Neshaan at Grant MacEwan, my world instantly stopped. All I remember is her turning the corner laughing, and the voice in my head told me I was going to marry that girl. It's cliché, but it was love at first sight. Neshaan made sense of every love cliché known to man, she's annoying too, really annoying sometimes, but that's ok, it reminds me everyday that I'm not living in a dream :)"
I can't imagine a better way to start your day than the one the Punjabi groom is having:
First, after you freshen up, your uncle has to carry you out of the shower.
Then, basically, everyone in your family is dressing you up literally from head to toe.
Neshaan: "Being a normally loud person, Karan's extremely quiet and shy demeanor annoyed me. I would always find ways to make him talk more, like tell me stories about hockey or how school was, hoping to keep him talking. I thought, at some point, he would ask me out, but he would always get close and never ask. Since he was too awkward and shy, I had to do it myself. Thought he was going to pass out, but now we're getting married, so I guess things went well... :)"
Both families gather in front of Nanaksar Gurdwara for an unexpectedly concise milni:
Time for everyone to move inside for the Anand Karaj, the Ceremony of Bliss.
Shaan needs one more adjustment before she can confidently step inside. Even her husband-to-be can't help but turn his head:
It's not hard to understand why Neshaan is here now; how can she resist that smile surrounded by that mighty beard?
Ok, maybe the artwork in gurdwaras is not of the most exquisite variety, but it does seem to drive the point home:
After the final ardas, Aria, Neshaan's niece, is the first to wish happiness to the couple.
As always, the shagun starts in the sweetest way possible, bringing prosperity and love to the newest married couple in town:
Where someone sees a simple covering for the foot, the bride's sister sees a business opportunity.
In memoriam Stan Lee, another awesome artist with Romanian roots.
Back to Layal residence, Oreo congratulates Shaan on today's successful endeavor:
But it's not over till it's over. Jutti or no jutti, Karan comes for his new wife:
He has to pass a few tests, but nothing he's never done before, I'm sure.
Like wearing a sari:
Finally, he's welcomed inside with open arms:
Only to take Neshaan to her new home.
The next day begins with a glimpse in the future:
Hastings Lake Gardens already became one of my most favorite photoshoot locations.
We leave the sweet summer light for the bright party light at Meridian Banquet Hall:
It's not long before DJ D Soul takes over and the dance floor fills up for the rest of the night.
Congratulations from the bottom of my heart, Neshaan & Karan! Thank you for reminding me that life is definitely better than a dream!
