If you wanna make sure you're undeniably hitched, you get married three times. Here's how it's done.
You start with a Sikh wedding ceremony on the first day.
Those colorful Indian outfits look amazing on everybody.
Bogdan, my second shooter witnesses the transformation of Sarah.
I spend the same morning with Karam and his green turban:
His palla concisely states today's schedule:
It is my first Anand Karaj at the Guru Ram Das Darbar Sikh Temple, in east Calgary.
Karam's sister is giving Sarah's dad a quick tutorial on the palla ritual:
As expected, he succeeds on the first try:
And now Sarah belongs to Karam.
But not before the lamas around Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture.
After the last ardas, the rings bring the ceremony to a shiny conclusion.
In this happy mood, we make our way to Bow Valley Ranche restaurant, in the Fish Creek Provincial park.
This is exactly like the Titanic shot, except we're not in the middle of the ocean, but in the middle of the tundra, and we're not on a sea vessel, but on a second floor balcony. Also, there are no icebergs, but only some bushes, which is even better.
The Chinese wedding takes place on the following day:
It is also known as the Tea ceremony.
The couple kneels on the floor and respectfully offers tea to the members of their families.
That's it.
But wait, there's more.
One last wedding is coming up and Sarah decides to wear her impressive tattoo:
Karam and his brothers will try something different, as well:
Even if they have to iron everything themselves:
Nothing brings the boys together like a pocket square and lapel flowers.
S & K and all their guests gather their strengths and come together for one last ceremony on the bluffs of Saskatoon Berry Farm, near Okotoks.
It all takes place under a hot, September sun.
The cello gently invites the bride in.
Again, Mr. Tov gives his daughter away. This time, for good:
Maybe it's just the bright light, but Sarah's eyes are in tears during the vow exchanges.
After three weddings in 2 days, the newly-really-weds feel like frolicking around the Saskatoon Berry Farm for a while.
Serious matters still need to be attended today, at the Magnolia banquet hall, back in Calgary:
And by serious I mean a night long dancing party.
But not before the heart warming speeches:
That moment when you catch your new wife dancing with someone else, and you want to get video proof:
Finally, Karam gets his turn:
Bogdan is still around, catching me in action:
Some might say it's a little late for jaago, but not me.
I love jaago and I think it's the best way to start the party.
The rest of the night is pretty much a bhangra lesson and Sarah's family is eager to learn.
DJ Bunty Kombo helps, as well (not shown here).
Congratulations one more time, Sarah and Karam! May your love be always this happy!
