Years ago Godfrey came all the way from Nigeria, Africa to Edmonton, Canada to study and this happened.
We have the All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Edmonton all for ourselves.
Thank you, Simona, for being there with me and taking awesome drone shots:
Reverend Neil Gordon conducts an intimate ceremony I feel privileged to be a part of:
The couples parents take turns reading passages from the Bible.
Fabloomosity provides a touch of gentle colour:
Luckily, Godfrey's mom and dad have their smartphones. Otherwise, they would have missed the whole thing:
After the ring exchange and signatures, a passionate kiss seals the deal for good:
Miraculously enough, summer has arrived in Edmonton just in time for the big event:
It's indoors, it's true, but it works just fine.
Muttart's Conservatory Feature Pyramid offers everything we need for a colourful bridal photoshoot.
Not long after that, the newly-weds change in their traditional Nigerian wedding outfits:
With bone jewelry and everything:
The DoubleTree by Hilton offers quite symbolic props:
There's literally a mountain of champagne waiting for us in the reception hall:
It would be rude to let anybody wait, let alone the champagne.
Here's to a night full of fun and a life full of happiness.
The Wine Ceremony is a traditional Nigerian Igbo wedding ritual. Godfrey and his family ask Jessica's hand in marriage:
The bride's parents agree by giving their daughter a glass with wine. Then Jessica goes on a search for Godfrey through the crowd:
When she finds him she offers him the glass signifying that she accepts him as her husband:
And they live happily ever after! Works every time.
Then we have a series of tequila shots ceremonies which everybody seems to enjoy:
Heartfelt speeches yield all kinds of emotions.
Everyone gathers around for the first dance:
Only to join the couple on the floor immediately after that.
Congratulations one more time, Jessica and Godfrey! Thank you so much for inviting us to your wedding!
